Reflection on the Gospel of the Fifth Sunday Of Lent |
John 8:1-11 |
Every sinner commits sin but not every sinner gets caught. Some are just better at manipulating the people around with influence, prejudice, intimidation etc. Jesus is aware of the hearts of all the accusers and shows them a mirror reflection of themselves. We are all adulterers, unfaithful to ourselves, our vocations, unfaithful to life, traitors to our most dear relationships. We strive constantly to find new lovers to deceive us with their false promises.
Like the woman, we too deserve death but Jesus knows every weakness in every broken person and he choses to become our Saviour rather than an accuser. He is ready to help us stand up and live a life free from sin if we choose him.
