Luke 2: 22-35 |
The Saviour was born, the dreams, the angel appearances and the immediate events had already unveiled the role Mother Mary and St Joseph’s would have in Salvation History. Yet they remained humble and obeyed every Instruction and Law. In accordance with this, when the time came for the purification in keeping with the Law of Moses, they Presented Jesus in the Temple. Inspite of knowing the Messiah- the very God who was supposed to reside in the Temple, was in now their arms. And yet they in humility they presented him, in obedience to the Law.
Today the Messiah is with us and in us, are we aware of this? Like Mary and Joseph let us strive to be humble and obedient to Mother-Church. Simeon in the temple was in the presence of the Lord, the fruit of all his desire and prayers, and so he burst forth in praising, blessing and thanking God for at last God had granted him his desire – i.e to be able to see the Messiah with his own eyes. Let us express our desire before God in prayer and regularly come in the presence of the Lord. Let us prayer for the intercession of Mary in our sorrow and our times of difficulty. Holy Spirit help us to praise and thank God, in every circumstance..
