Reflection on the Gospel of the MondayIn The Fifth Week Of Easter |
John 14:21-26 |
The above teaching of Jesus is immediately after the Passover Meal, the Last Supper. Jesus knows the events that are going to take place from the next few moments. He encourages them to face the next few days and for the rest of their lives during these last few moments he would be spending with his Apostles (Judas Iscariot is not present as he had moved out to do the task of handing Jesus over)
He states that if anyone loves Jesus, he will surely keep the commandments and keep his word and then Jesus himself and His Father will make their dwelling place in the one who loves Him. The condition is just simple, love and be obedient to his words. The Apostles at that time could not understand completely what Jesus was speaking, so Jesus assures them that the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send will teach them all things.
Do we believe that Jesus lives in our heart? Ask a child and he/she will say yes. It is difficult to explain but we know that God does talks to us, strengthens us, leads, and guides us. By the gift of faith, we know that God is real and desires the deepest and most intimate relationship with us. Are we ready?
We just have to love him, know his word and be obedient to his word. For this we must read and hear his word and that is possible by reading the scriptures.
Let us pray to the Holy Spirit to help us read and understand Jesus’ teachings just like little children. Guide us and lead us to live holy lives and help us speak your word with courage to the ones who do not know you.
