Reflection on the Gospelof the Fifth Sunday of Easter |
John 13:31-33a, 34-35 |
Jesus was all set to complete his mission on earth. Through His passion, death and resurrection He would redeem sinful humanity. The death and resurrection of Jesus couldn’t be the end, the mission to save as many souls as possible had to be continued by the disciples and followers of Jesus. The Good News message of being saved through the sacrifice of Jesus had to be given to all. Since Jesus himself successfully completed his mission because he loved us. We too can continue his mission only by abiding in His love and reaching out to others through His love.
The followers of Christ cannot be people who just speak words. Christian have to reflect Christ in their daily living. Thus, the Gospel of today challenges us to become more like Jesus in order to glorify him and the heavenly Father.
