Reflection on the Gospel of the ThursdayIn The Fifth Week In Lent |
John 8:51-59 |
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, before Abraham was, I am. The Jews were very familiar with Jesus, the son of Mary, as he grew up before them. They could not understand Him claiming a divine nature, one which was beyond time. They were very angry with him to the point of wanting to stone him. They had an heated argument with him. Jesus turns this argument into a scripture discussion, He takes them to the beginning, to the Prophets, to the ancestors. We must live with scripture, discussing it as an ongoing part of our lives. The word of God will keep us alive and active. We are blessed with the gift of the Trinity, The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The interaction, the relationship of Jesus and The Father is so mature that they become one. Jesus speaks to us to develop a similar pray-relationship with him and his Father. We need to be one with them. We are more blessed than the Old Testament Prophets to see and dialogue with Jesus, to enter into a relationship with him, even Abraham himself rejoiced when he was given the understanding of the Messiah-God-Jesus who would one day enable man to stand in God’s presence. Let us pray with the Word, that we receive grace to understand the profound conversation Jesus has with us on a daily basis. Holy Spirit guide us help us with the gift to listen to your voice speaking to us through the many various ways.
