Reflection on the Gospelof the Fourth Sunday of Easter |
John 10:27-30 |
Jesus states that He is the Good Shepherd who cares for His sheep. He seeks, nurtures, guides and protects His sheep. His sheep have an intimate relationship with Him such that they can listen, discern, accept and act according to the Will of God. When man has united himself in Christ, man becomes more Christ like it easy to belong and be a part of the Good Shepherd’s flock. So how do we get to know Jesus, the Good Shepherd more intimately? Through His Word, strengthening ourselves by receiving him sacramentally and strengthening our spiritual self just as we would with our physical bodies. There will be distractions that will prevent us from listening and being open but the Good Shepherd will seek us if we wander too far away. All we need to do is be open to Him so that we know him better.
