Reflection on the Gospel of the TuesdayIn The Fifth Week In Lent |
John 8:21-30 |
Two things stand out for me in this Gospel Text. First that Jesus knew of his upcoming death, yet was in full control of his thoughts and feelings. There is no sense of bitterness, resentment or any sense that he is being led like a lamb to the slaughter. The Second thing which stands out for me, throws light on the first. In verse 29 Jesus gives the secret of his strength and confidence, “And the one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him.”
In verse 29 Jesus tells us of the quality of relationship he has with God-Father; His Abba. And Abba is always with Him, ever present, ever illuminating His path and guiding Him, and Jesus is all ears and eyes in this His relationship. The Key as Jesus said is to believe. Believe not based on ideas and thoughts of this world, but with those transforming ones that God imparts and gives us. We need to be transformed by the Word of God, and believe each and everything Jesus utters.
Today the Truth of Jesus is not easily identifiable because many cultural/this worldly truths have been woven with what is of Christ. And these confusing half truths are proclaimed as being of Christ, that is why we do not experience the grace of God’s Presence. How then will you know Jesus’ truths that sets one free? Come feed of the Word of God and take it to God and discuss it with Him, at His feet. There is immense power and strength is the Truth that is Jesus Christ. Come sit at His feet and fill your life with the Light of Christ.
