Isaiah speaks of fasting as not the act of skipping a meal/s. He says it is about being like God, i.e. seeking God’s heart each day and living according to who God is, since we are made in God’s image and likeness. Jesus in the first temptation tells us, we are called to live by God’s Word and not get distracted by earthly needs. God’s word is truth and all saving. God is responsible for our needs and He will meet them.
Let us then reflect; since God is besides us, we need to appreciate this fact, and rejoice and wait on Him. Truth and wisdom is at His feet. And even as we grow in our relationship with Him, not only are we transformed, but those around us also are transformed.
