Reflection on the Gospel of the Third Sunday
|
Matthew 4: 12-23 |
Today’s gospel is a direct invitation. It is an invitation to experience a better richer abundant life. Follow me as the Lord, and we will find truth. It is a choice that we need to make, being caught up in our lives or listen to his calling and be a part of something greater purpose.
During the time of Jesus and even today, having access to the best teachers would be possible if we had the means to do so. But here, we see that Jesus who is wisdom himself recruits his students. It is a recruitment of ordinary sinful men not extra ordinary learned saints. So when we read, repent for the kingdom is near. We don’t have to be discouraged. It is an invitation to reflect on our life. Do you want something better? An opportunity is given to each of us every day by Jesus. He wants to make us part of His team. How can we respond to this offer?
