Reflection on the Gospel of the Wednesday
|
Matthew 13:44-46 |
The question is all about desire. Do you desire God with all your heart mind and soul? What place does he occupy in your heart? Are you sitting on the fence with Him? If he is the the all important thing in your life, nothing else will matter. You will spend all of yourself to find Him.
Today’s Gospel Text is made up of three verse, and are not too big. Yet we can safely say they mean everything to him who seeks God/Peace. In Matthews Gospel each chapter is like a page of a book, the theme/idea of the first page matching the last page, and then moving inward, the second page matching the second last page, and so on. Chapter 13 is exactly in the centre, and it unpacks the chief idea of all the rest of the Gospel. And this is the chief idea – Jesus is the most important treasure anyone can ever discover… but to discover Him, one needs to get into a relationship with Him. The movies shows how the hero has steeped himself in research and study to uncover and win some hidden treasure. Likewise, we need to invest ourselves in studying and waiting on Him, in order to meet Him and grow in Him…
The Great Shema exhorts us to seek God with, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might’. Seek Him and You will Find Him.
