Reflection on the Gospel of the Tuesday
|
Mark 2: 23-28 |
Today’s gospel reading pertains to Sabbath observance. Now let’s search closely our lives and try to find out, do we have any observance/religious rules made up in our minds. Like making a Novena faithfully but ok with skipping Holy Mass on Sunday’s, avoiding Holy Communion from the hands of a Eucharistic Minister, giving up things, but not including anything in our lives during Lent, add another one of your own here ___.
When Jesus said, “𝙄’𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙗𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙝”, He is saying, “I am the focus of the Sabbath/your religious rules. So stop trying to follow all the religious rules in your mind and start following God closely by having a relationship with Him, and this brings real spiritual freedom.
In the Old Testament the Sabbath was about a specific day, but in the New Testament is about a specific person. In the OT it was about resting from work, in the NT it is about resting in Christ. In the OT it was about rules to follow, but in the NT is about a relationship.
