Reflection on the Gospel of the ThursdayIn The Second Week In Lent |
Luke 16:19-31 |
The rich man and Lazarus parable mentions the rich and the poor, the mighty and the weak, and it puts our present and future in front of us. God knows everyone of us by name and is concerned about us, no matter what our circumstances are. In our daily encounters do we recognize the person in need. Do we know them by name and even if we know them What are our plans of action? This parable is more concerned with what we are doing now than with what will happen in the future. Are we aware of the situation and the needs of others around us? The rich man in the parable named Abraham his father, but did he live up to the title? He was aware of Lazarus’ situation at his gate, yet he did not meet his needs. it was not his riches that separated him from his Fathers bosom but his untrustworthy stewardship. He was concerned about his brothers but it was too late. The parable brings out the opportunity of our present living and our activities leading to eternal future. Holy Spirit Help us to be aware of situations and needs around us. Help us to reach out to the need around us,
