Reflection on the Gospel of the Monday
|
Luke 17: 1-6 |
Jesus in todays Gospel is making a few observations;
- Sin is bound to be there
- Point out the sin of those around you
- forgive the sinner
But he is also pointing out what is worst then sin;
- The person who is the source of sin of another, is more worst, then the sinner.
- Not making your brother/sister aware of their sin. By you abstaining in your duty, you have washed your hands from your responsibility to them, as being in the one family of God.
- Not forgiving those who sin around you (how then can you ask for forgiveness).
Then there is a statement by the disciples which seems unconnected with the passage on sin in the previous verses;
- “Lord, Increase our faith!”
- and Jesus points out that even little faith is sufficient to do miracles all around.
- or even one solitary life of leaving in relationship with God is sufficient to light up the world to come into a better and right relationship with God.
What is faith?
- It is the result of having
- an experience
- which leads you to trust
- which in turn helps you to believe and live that trust.
- So all these combined influencing your life together is faith
- Faith opens you to get into a relationship with God, and grow in Him
- So this faith/relationship opens you to manifest God’s presence in and around you
- and though it may not be as big a mountain
- but be as little as a mustard seed,
- it has the potential to light passion for God in every heart, it comes in contact with.
Come let us with the apostles tell Jesus, “Lord, increase our faith…“
