Reflection on the Gospel of the Thursday In The Second Week Of Advent |
Matthew 11:11-15 |
Jesus speaks about and praises John the Baptist for his boldness, his humility, detachments, preparedness to die, to witness, his role as a prophet, this also reflect his mother(family) bringing him up in the understanding of Gods love and teachings. Jesus concludes with Let anyone with ears listen! Hence we must review his words and the important message he has just revealed, Jesus has actually claimed to be the Messiah Himself, where John the Baptist prepared the way for Him in the spirit of Elijah and as all the prophets and the Law prophesied. John the Baptist is the greatest-least of men as He has actually seen and testified what all the other prophets were looking forward to in Jesus and today we as Disciples in his Kingdom have seen the fulfilment of God’s plans in Jesus. John the Baptist was executed, he witnessed to the Messiah. He is first to die with the arrival of these woeful days, Jesus will suffer the same violence, and like the Disciples are we ready to listen, bear Witness and work in God’s Kingdom?
Holy Spirit bless me with the gift of Wisdom, Understand and Knowledge of your Word.
