Reflection on the Gospel of the Thirtieth Sunday In Ordinary Time |
Matthew 22: 34-40 |
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and you shall love your neighbour as yourself.” Jesus summarized the law to just these two Commandments. Loving God doesn’t become effective if the neighbour is ignored. We are called to love not just by words but in deeds as well.
For God so loved the World that He gave his only begotten son that we may have eternal life through him. That’s love in action. God himself showed us that he loves us not just in words but by sacrificing his life for us. Love without action isn’t love at all. True and genuine love is living a life centered in Christ but also sharing Christ to others through our interactions with the people at home, church, work and community. Just like the heavenly Father takes care of his children’s needs, we too are called to be a reflection of God. By the way we are made in the image and likeness of God which basically means that God has put within our hearts a great capacity to love just like He does.
Let us bring the love of God to all we meet by deeds rooted in him alone.
