Reflection on the Gospel of the Fourth Sunday
|
Matthew 5: 1-12a |
How does God want us to live our lives? Well, the answer is in todays Gospel. It is the beginning of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount – A handbook of guidelines to live a holy life with the beatitudes. The beatitudes are basically blessings. They are God’s blessings for our lives as well as a mission to be a blessing to others. So we are called to be humble, peaceful, loving, merciful even when we are faced with challenging situations in our lives. The beatitudes can be made manifest in our lives only if we are open to God’s love. It is God’s love that moulds our hearts into an image of his heart.
Let us reflect on one beatitude this day and try to live it to the best of our ability this week.
