Reflection on the Gospel of the Thursday
|
Mark 8: 27-33 |
“Who do you say that I am?”
Peter’s reply was, “You are the Christ,” today what are our views? What is your view? We are blessed today, in that we have the Scripture, Commentaries, Reflections, Teachings, still many fail to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah. Jesus is asking us the same question to us today “But who do you say that I am?” what is your personal response to Him.
Jesus awaits our response. Like Peter He wants to build His church on us. He loves us, accepts us with all our weaknesses and failings, in spite of being untangled in worldly affairs, He is patient, he is kind and He waits for us. Jesus’ Suffering Death and Resurrection is a victory gained for each and every individual who acknowledges him as The Christ. His true disciples are those who are willing to give up their lives for others, because of their love for Jesus. The Apostles in the Gospels gave up everything for Jesus and His Message and the Reality of Gods’ Kingdom. We can truly say that they are the ones who responded with all eagerness to the invitation to the Wedding Banquet. They had their lives, families, responsibilities, but they prioritised Jesus. Not a blind investment on their part, but an investment born of having experienced Jesus, they put all their eggs in Jesus’ basket. In a way, they were called to respond to God as Modern Abrahams, learning to trust and obey God. Finally, they won the promise given to Abraham, as being blessings to the nations, through the Grace of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection.
Come Holy Spirit help us to be true disciples, help us to follow Jesus with an all eager Heart, and to invest our all in Him.
