Reflection on the Gospel of the Saturday In The Second Week Of Easter |
John 6: 16-21 |
This Gospel Passage is after the feeding of the Five Thousand, Jesus has stayed back to pray, and asked His Disciples to carry on and travel to Capernaum, where he was staying and operating His ministry from. And in the middle of the night as the Disciples rowed in the sea, most of them were accomplished fisherman, were struggling against the wind and the sea. And then they saw someone moving on the waters. Their normal reaction was that it was a ghost or a spirit, because the general belief was that the waters was the home of evil. They were afraid. And they suddenly head a familiar voice, Jesus saying to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”, They took Jesus in their boat and all fear and angst departed from them.
Jesus is saying the same thing to us, “It is I; do not be afraid.” We may be messed up by our choices and life in general, take Him aboard in your boat/life. Invite Him to take charge and to steer you to better living in Him. He will come and He will bless your life. In revealing to the Disciples, that he walked on water, Jesus was telling them, I am Lord of all, and He is Lord of all, even evil has no power over Him. He is the Creator God, the source of all life, and He is here now, close at hand. Will you then like the Disciples, invite Jesus in your life/boat. You may fail many a times, you may want to run away because of your failures, but He is still you Lover, He wants you to cling to Him – His faithfulness is sure, and He will Never fail you.
