Reflection on the Gospel of the Fourth Sundayof Easter |
John 10: 1-10 |
Jesus is alive! He hasn’t left us alone to reside in heaven. The good Lord is the good shepherd. He gives us an invitation to have a personal relationship with Him. He calls us by name. Unlike, the shepherds of our world who tend sheep for economic reasons. Jesus is the Shepherd who laid down his life for his sheep, that’s us! He is a different shepherd who leads his flock rather than pushes the flock to move in a particular direction. Jesus leads the way but the choice is still given to us to follow him or go astray. But you know what’s next is even more fascinating about Jesus, the good shepherd – He goes in search of his lost sheep as well. He doesn’t abandon us when we go astray. Why? The Good Shepherd simply loves us more than we can ever comprehend within the confines of our human mind. His love seems illogical yet valuable to us.
The whispers of our hearts deep within are calls of the Good Shepherd. How are we going to listen? How are we going to respond?
