Reflection on the Gospel of the Wednesday
|
Matthew 11: 25-27 |
Who are the wise and who are the children, that Jesus is referring to in today’s Gospel Passage? Is it wrong to approach God with our understanding of things? Is childlike faith enough?
Today Jesus is thanking His Father/God of Heaven and Earth for His marvellous and eternal Wisdom. This wisdom dispenses a relationship to people, with God. Those who approach Him, for Himself, desiring to be in relationship /partnership with Him, find Him. Some may approach God with all their understanding and will fail to see Him or recognise Him, because they have approached Him just to get acquainted with Him, to acquire knowledge and understanding of Him, and not to foster a friendship with Him. To put it in human understanding; God is safe guarding Himself from exploitative and meaningless (one way) relationships, where there is no love coming in from those who want to know God, only love going out from Himself.
We are back in the Garden of the tree of Knowledge and the tree of Life/Love. What do we choose, a life of Love, which demands us to pour ourselves out for God, just as He pours Himself for us. Or are we only looking at understanding God and making a learned decision to believe in Him or not. To discover such answers, look within yourself, God has already left sufficient markers of His reality. If today you awake to God and His Goodness, harden not your hearts, desire Him, speak to Him, and invite Him into your life.
