Reflection on the Gospel of the Wednesday In The Twentyninth Week In Ordinary Time |
Luke 12:39-48 |
Every one to whom much is given, both Worldly or Spiritually, of them much will be demanded!
We are God’s Children and as Children, responsible towards each other. In this world we find disparity of wealth, resources, spiritual knowledge, truth, love, mercy and the like. But the crux of the understanding of this passage is that those who have the favour of all these, from them much is demanded. This is directly in response to the theme of Brotherhood found in the story of Cain killing Abel and in Cain telling God, that he is not his Brother’s Keeper. But as God’s children, made in his image and likeness, we are required to be like God, responsible for and caring of each other, watching each others backs, helping those not so fortunate among us, because that is the mandate God has given each of the fortunate..
This also happens to be the second facet of the Law as Jesus said; if Love of God is the First, Love of Neighbour is the other. Lets look inward and weed out every ideology which is not in sync with Jesus teachings…, and progress to be good brothers and sisters to those around us.
