Reflection on the Gospel of the Saturday

Matthew 17: 14-20 |
Jesus came to this world to bring God’s love to his people. He choose 12 apostles to be with him and trained them. Many people followed Jesus and expressed their desire to be his disciples, thus Jesus choose them and sent them out in small groups. They performed many miracles in the name of Jesus. Jesus gave them authority to cure sickness, cast out demon, redeem people from their sin (old way of life). On one occasion, His disciples struggled to cast out a demon from a boy and the boys father approached Jesus and pleaded for the well-being of his son. Jesus took mercy on the boy and redeemed cast out the demon from him.
After the incident, His disciples approached Jesus and wanted to know the reason for their failure in casting out demon. Jesus mentions that their lack of faith is the only reason for their failure. When the disciples tried casting out the demon, the demon showed everyone his power over the boy – he cast the boy in an epileptic episode and also tried to do him harm by pushing him towards fire. At this the disciples lost their confidence and hope and unknowingly fear filled their heart and therefore faith departed from them. The disciples focus was changed from Jesus to the demon, thus they faced failure. Yes, friends lack of faith/focus on Jesus made the disciples fail in their action.
Like the disciples in the passage, we too experience failure in our life due to lack of faith. When we face problems in our life our mind and heart waves from positive approaches to negative approaches. Unknowingly, we give access to our heart and mind to be fill with fear and imagine all our mustard seed size problems to be big as mountains. Hence, Jesus in todays gospel passage says that “if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from hence to yonder place,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” Keep faith in Jesus he will give you strength to move the mountain (big size problem) from our life.
“Nothing is impossible with Jesus, Everything is possible with Jesus”
