Reflection on the Gospel of the Tuesday Of The Twenty-Third Week In Ordinary Time |
Luke 6:12-19 |
The context of this Gospel Passage is being sent out as God’s heralds and God’s image bearer’s. And this is our identity as Christians, we are all sent out. But rewind back a minute, but before living the call, we ae required to become prepared. Prepared to be the salt of the earth and light of the World. If we do not know what it means to be salt and light, then what do we tell others, how do we know the truth, what truth do we tell others. This is completed in becoming prepared at the feet of the Master. And that is what the rest of todays Gospel passage tells us. The disciples and apostles were taught, they were shown, they were explained and they were asked to live the Gospel. And just as Jesus was to ascend, He instructed them to wait, to receive power and the presence of God in their life, so that what they speak is complemented by looking at their lives. And when they heal, God’s presence also is shared with the person healed.
This Gospel Passage is then a call to personal holiness. Lets Pray. Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts, minds and spirit, we want to be more like Jesus in all ways. Bless us and help us to study Your Word, and sit at Your feet, and grow in the understanding that you impart. That we grow in relationship with You, Jesus and our Father in Heaven. Thank You Holy Spirit come then and inspire us.
