Luke 24: 35-48
The Two Disciples who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus were eager to share their Experience, and they shared what happened on the road with the Disciples back in Jerusalem. They mentioned everything, how they were going back broken, how they met the stranger How they told him of Jesus’ death, his empty tomb, the wild stories about him being alive and how they poured out their hearts to him. Thereafter how the wayfarer opened and explained scripture regrading the Christ, why it was necessary for him to die, and be glorified by the Father. How they urged him to stay with them, and at meal how he revealed to them as Jesus the Christ, in and through the Breaking of Bread.
Do we recognize Jesus when he breaks bread at the Eucharist with us, do we talk and witness to his Resurrection, when we see him revealing himself to us through the reading and listening of scripture. Do we see and feel his tangible presence in the Gospel. Jesus himself stood among them, he himself had said when two or more are gathered to discuss His Word, he is there in their midst and his peace will overwhelm them. His presence amongst us blesses us with the gift of Peace, which the world can take it away.
“Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? Jesus opens conversations with us, He is concerned about our troubles, he resolves our doubts, do we experience this power of Jesus’ Resurrection. He is living, he opens minds to understand the scriptures and He walks with us, talks with us, eats with us. He brings to our mind things that we need to know and remember, as also he reminds us teaches us through everyday things/events of life.
The law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms, all speak of Jesus and they are completely understood in Jesus.
Are we ready to be witness to Jesus, are we ready to proclaim repentance and forgiveness in his name. Let us pray to the Holy Spirit to give us the courage and boldness to be witnesses of Jesus.
