Reflection on the Gospel of the Thursday
|
Luke 11: 14-23 |
“He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.”
This line stands out for me, in today’s Gospel Reading. There is no scope to sit on the fence, with regards who Jesus is. Either we believe in Him or we do not. To believe is to be convicted about something that it is the irrefutable truth/path etc. And when you believe, you live those things that you believe. You order your life around what you believe. If you sit on the fence, that is not belief, it is like you have seen all the evidence and you don’t want to embrace the truth because it is inconvenient to you, or you don’t want to accept it.
When you run away from the truth, you are focussing your life around make-belief, and since this is not the truth, it will only create conflict in you, because there is a war in you between what you believe and what is the truth. And because of this you will only disintegrate, crumble inside yourself. And that is a vicious circle to be in, and there is no escaping it. But thanks be to God, for he has provided us the answer to the vicious circles in our lives – Jesus. Jesus is Peace himself, and when you allow Him into your life, He brings you solace, joy and acceptance…
Come Lord Jesus, come into this heart of mine, come and make it your own, let me make my home in you, bathe in your presence that is peace and swim in joy that is to know you and be in relationship with You.
