Reflection on the Gospel of the Saturday

Feast: Apostles Simon & Saint JudeLuke 6: 12-19 |
Many people attracted by Jesus preaching, teaching and healing and started followed him, thus he had both man and woman disciples. Out of that he selected 12 apostles to be with him and sent out as messenger. A disciple is basically learner and follower, but an apostles is someone sent out as a messenger and witness, authorised by Jesus. An apostles’s task is to give witness to the person of Christ and not just proclaim an idea.
Saint Luke says before choosing apostles Jesus was in long night prayer with Father, this shows that Jesus is going to take a critical decision and importance of his mission. Only in Luke Gospel we can see that Jesus is doing personal prayer and spending time with god the father. Each and every work he did with the consent of father (prayer) like choosing apostles, doing miracles (Multiplication of bread), accepting passion. This personal encounter (prayer)of Jesus strengthen him to overcome all evil poweanand brought salvation to us.
We are baptised in the name of Jesus, it is our duty to proclaim the good news ie. Bear witness for Christ through our life. Today’s world required missionaries, apostles, evangelist, prophets, teachers, leaders to build God’s kingdom, but only handful of people doing their duty. “Harvest is plentiful, but workers are few”
What are we waiting for if you have personal encounter with Jesus and experienced his love then why are you waiting for and whom you are waiting for, Jesus is calling you for his mission, just accept the call, he will make a way for you. Jesus is awaiting for you. Are you ready to accept his proposal?
