Reflection on the Gospel of the Friday In The Twentyninth Week In Ordinary Time |
Luke 12:54-59 |
One of the things that intrigues human attention is a peek into the future. We are very curious to predict the future as well as know before hand what the future holds for us.
In today’s gospel passage, Jesus questions the people about the fact that they are able to read the signs in the sky and wind to predict about the rain or heat, but they are unable to understand the happenings of the present and the natural/ logical progression that their wrongdoings will lead them to. He urges the people to introspect and take action; settle the pending disputes rather than dragging them to Court.
We hold on to grudges with family members, have long legal battles over property, and are so busy providing for our future that we forget to live in the present. We have to learn to live in the ‘here and now’. The YCW movement follows the principle of ‘See, Judge, Act”. Pay attention, understand the situation & decide and then put your thoughts into action to resolve the issue.
We can use this principle in the small and big decisions of daily life and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can bring to reality the Kingdom of God.
