Reflection on the Gospel of the WednesdayIn The First Week In Lent |
Luke 11:29-32 |
What is this Sign of Jonah? Yes Jonah in a way pre-represents Jesus’ own death and resurrection, but to the people of Nineveh, he represents the voice of a prophet. A prophet who passed judgement on behalf of God, on the people of Nineveh, and thus inviting them to repent… And the Ninevites payed heed and repented. Jonah then is the sign of repentance and reconciliation.
Jesus then is the sign from God, inviting us to reconcile. This season of Lent then is inviting us to introspect, look within ourselves and put away everything that creates rifts with ourselves and our God and our family. Come then and sit before your God and Father, be washed in his love and forgiveness.
