The Parable of Weeds among the Wheat
Reflection on the Gospel of the Saturday Of The Sixteenth Week In Ordinary Time |
Matthew 13:24-30 |
Jesus in his ministry journey met simple, poor and ordinary people so he taught them through parable. Through various parable he proclaimed kingdom of God. Today parable taught how God shall judge the world at the end time. Fields in this passage represents world, seed sower are heavenly father, wheat represents good people in the world weeds represents evil doers, harvest time means end time, servants are Gods representative.
While reading the entire parable we can observe that God has created the field and sowed good seed and made man as steward for his field. At night when servants were slept enemy has planted weeds in the fields. Servant noticed that weeds are among the wheat and want to separate the weeds but his master refused to do so. In early stage of wheat and weed growth it is very difficult to identify the weeds as both are identical. Master suggested his servant to allow to grow both and separated at the time of harvest.
Similarly, we too are living among sinful people in the world. God never completely destroy the evil people at the initial stage instead give chance to repent otherwise there wont be any man survive in the world. Heavenly father patiently waiting upon us till harvest. At the end time god shall take off the evil doer and put them in hell and gather good people in heaven.
Let’s pray to holy spirit and strive to live holy life in sinful world and enter Kingdom of God.
