Reflection on the Gospel of the Twentieth Sunday

Lord Help me! That’s a prayer. It was a desperate prayer from a desperate Cannanite mother. We may find the Gospel offensive towards the woman but on the contrary it makes her an example of faith and being consistent in prayer. When the apostles ask Jesus to send her away she just doesn’t give up. Faith is an experience that isn’t limited to just a chosen few but it’s an experience for anyone who can open his or her heart to Jesus.
This passage isn’t about who deserves to get a miracle the Jews or the Gentiles. Similarly having a relationship with Jesus doesn’t require any pre-requisite qualifications. Conversion of the heart is possible if we are consistent and persistent in building our relationship with Jesus. This means that we do make time for him in prayer but also make our life a prayer. Making our life a prayer means living a life that makes Jesus present to us in everything we do and be. Being in Jesus…
