Jesus the Cause of Division

The family which prayers together, stay together, but in todays Gospel Reading, Jesus talks about division and contradicting He brings to peoples life and in society? He illustrates it by saying everyone He will be cause for every on in a family to be divided; three against two and two against three, they will be divided – father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
A follower and disciple of Jesus will have to face an uncomfortable life, even to the extent of being separated from his/her family, Jesus’ words when proclaimed will first challenge the family members, it will heal the family members and even bring division as they may stick to their old ideas and understanding, and not be willing to accept Jesus as Saviour, Redeemer and God. This is exactly what happened in Jesus’ time, there were those who liked His teachings, miracles actions, etc, but did not want to call Him LORD. Others looked with doubt everything He said and did. The Simple folk mostly readily accepted Him. All this because they had pre-conceived ideas of who God should be. And Jesus was far away from match their ideas of God. They wanted God to match their ideas and preferences…

Holy Spirt help us to recognise You in my liked and when I have found you to proclaim you with inner joy. Help me to cast aside institutional ideas and the stress. Thank you Lord for your strength and courage. Amen
