Reflection on the Gospel of the HOLY WEEK: PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD JESUS |
Matthew 26: 14-27: 66 |
Palm Sunday, a long sad Gospel to listen to. It begins with a grand welcome of Jesus as the Messiah into Jerusalem by the crowds attending the Passover festival. However, later during Good Friday there’s also a crowd, a different one that shouts out ‘Crucify him! Crucify him’. Today’s gospel is the anticipation of an intense week.. It’s a week where the crux of our Faith will be revealed. The Eucharist will be instituted, the cross will symbolize God’s love for us and the empty tomb at Easter that will bring us victory and hope in a renewed life through Jesus.
We all are invited to make this journey with our Lord through his passion, death and resurrection. Let us be mindful of this significant week as we receive the eucharist, carry our crosses, die to ourselves with a bit more sacrifice so that we can experience a rebirth at Easter. Accept Jesus as your Messiah, accept his sacrifice for your sins, accept his love. It is He who is our only hope. We surrender to him our complete and bear selves at the feet of Jesus. The good, the bad the ugly…. crying out to Him Hosannah! Hosannah! to our saviour.. thank you lord for loving me..
