Reflection on the Gospel of the Thirty-Third Sunday
|
Matthew 24: 14-30 |
Imagine a Q&A between Adam and Eve
Adam: Who made you?
Eve: Our Father and Creator, The Almighty God
Adam: Why did God create you after me?
Eve: I’m not sure but I think the serpent has the answer
Now I am sure you have recognized the problem. Seeking answers from the wrong source can be DEADLY when the source of your source of life has the answer. We often don’t find meaning and purpose simply because we don’t know our Almighty Good Father. He made us his children, he knows us inside out, our strengths, weaknesses and capabilities.
In today’s Gospel the Master entrusts his servants a portion of his inheritance, each according to his ability. Remember that one talent was equivalent to 20 years worth of wages. Now that’s a generous inheritance to take care of. Similarly God our Father has created us for a specific purpose, each one with a unique task, a gift to invest in his kingdom.
The question is do we realize the precious inheritance given to us by our Father? Will be able to contribute in his kingdom much more than what was gifted to us?
