Reflection on the Gospel of the Thursday

Matthew 11: 28-30 |
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me
Jesus’s words begin with ” come to me. Jesus knowing the wariness and unrest in us, invites us to lean on him to abide in him and receive the rest which we are longing for and were originally gifted with, i.e to rest and to bond with him. We need to willing surrender and accept this invitation. Jesus gives us the opportunity to learn from him, the meek and humble way to relate with everyone including Himself. This is same way he relates with his Father and how he relates with us. It is an opportunity to know his heart, an opportunity to learn the Christian way of living directly from the master. By doing this all the sacrifice, the persecution, the humiliation, the unbearable burdens, the test, all these will be an easy and light yoke for us. Leaning on Jesus implies, coming into His presence and getting into a conversation with Him. Knowing or Bible reading helps to a point and is important, but these cannot displace, the actual act of accepting Jesus here on earth, and available to us to get into a relationship with. Are we willing to learn from him? Are we willing to know him/ meek and humble of heart? Jesus is accompanying us with his yoke, we only need to be with him, surrender to him and be in the rest he restores to us.
Holy Spirit help me to learn and grow in relationship with Jesus. Help me to experience and relish this rest which you offer.
