Reflection on the Gospel of the Thursday
|
Matthew 18: 21-19: 1 |
Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy times seven.
Peter had this question in his mind as we also have about the limit of forgiveness. Peter was given an explanation on forgiveness, as we see in today’s Gospel, with the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant.
The King had forgiven a huge debt of one of his Servant, because of his cries and pleas, but this Servant real did not value and understand his own forgiveness and therefore could not forgive a small debt of one of his fellow servant. He was deaf to his cries and pleas, that too immediately after the forgiven/cancellation of his own huge debt.
Seventy times seven is not a measurement. It simple means be merciful, because God never holds back His mercy from us, therefore without limit pass it on. Let us become aware and understand the Merciful Love of God, that has purchased us freedom from sin and death, Gives us the choice of walking back into God’s presence and experiencing His Peace, Joy and Love. Come Holy Spirit help me to receive the grace, blessing and forgiveness you are continuously give me and help me to continuously pass it on to those around me.
