In the First Reading we read that David brings the Ark to Jerusalem. When he tried first, due to unproper arrangement and attention, the Ark would have toppled, but Uzzah, reached to steady the Ark, and was stuck dead. The anger of God, in striking Uzzah dead looks unwarranted, but I have no insight to explain. When after a time, David realises God’s anger has been appeased, he now takes great care, he casts away his own identity as King of Israel, before the Real King of Israel, and dances before it like God’s servant.

In Mark’s Gospel reading we see that looking at how Jesus is going about His ministry without rest, and His family Member’s come to take Him away from the crowds. He is informed of His waiting family, who can’t get into His house because of the overcrowded place. Jesus turns around and uses the motif/example of family to illustrate what is pleasing to God and how God sees His own. Family, understand each other, and what is best for the other, so Jesus speaks up and points to those gathered that being obedient to God’s is pleasing to God, and He considers those obedient to God as his family.

This echoes another scripture in the Gospel of John where Jesus says those who make their home in the Word of God, meaning heavily desire to understand and grow in God, in them I and my Father will come and make our home… What is highlighted is these passages is the type of relationship you desire to forge/make with God. And desiring God in humility becomes important to encountering Him.

Bible Verse For Today
