King Solomon is remembered for his Wisdom and today’s First Reading tells us how he asked for Wisdom from God; and not only was he granted wisdom, but earthly wealth also. I will say it was earthly wisdom that is spoken of here, because he wanted to excel in governing the people. For me, Wisdom is Jesus Christ, and to be in a relationship with Him. And when He is with you, and around you, you will never fail in everything you do.
We see Wisdom played out in today’s Gospel. In the perfect sense of love, Jesus as master is concerned for His Disciples and invites them to rest, recuperate and re-energise. He wants them to learn more from directly instructing them. But a situation arises where He sees a greater need, and understands the growing crowd, who is following Him everywhere, not as an impediment, but as a opportunity, to teach and feed it on God’s Word. Yes this will be a dis-service to His Disciples, but as something God has brought before Him, He satisfies the spiritual and physical hunger of the crowd. He through association and relationship with God-Father, knows that the Father is fully able to satisfy those in His direct care. We see a marvelous miracle as a result. But look at the other side; more than words, will not this live experience of being in the middle of a miracle experience, have taught and inspired Jesus’ Disciples more.
Think about it, through our personal experience, we may know how to respond to each event in our lives, but God’s Wisdom will give us a more proper and bigger result. We need to let go, and wait on Jesus. He provides for us and those around us, through us, by really satisfying us completely.
