What you sow – you reap, or to put it differently, there is fruit to every actions we do. Sometimes the fruit is positive, and sometimes negative. Which are these actions which bless our lives, which bring death and decay in our lives? We cannot fully say, because some actions are good in one context and wrong in another. So what do you do? Go to the one who knows and blesses everyone. Who does know? God does, and that is the reason Jeremiah likens us to either a shrub or a tree. Water being the key factor of growth, water is likened to God’s presence and guidance. And everyone who chooses to build himself on God flourishes in season or out season.

The Gospel story of Lazarus and the Rich man aptly brings Jeremiah’s Psalm to life. Worldly wisdom is folly, attach yourself to God, the source of Truth and all wisdom.

Bible Verse For Today

Blessed are they who have kept the word with a generous heart and yield a harvest through perseverance.
