Jesus is the Light of our lives! How?

We go through life based on understanding of things, principles, social opinions, norms etc, even what we learn at home and from our parents. But is that the way of/to Jesus? And that is what we find in the First reading and the Gospel reading, individuals in their own understanding of what is right and wrong, in their selfishness, seeking and living their own truth. Jesus came into this world to reveal all Truth (= God). And He proclaims, if you have seen me then you have seen God who is Father. He bring light to our lives through what He taught and lived, thereby revealing us the heart/face of God. We find His words and deeds, and their proper understanding in the New Testament. But the New Testament gains even more depth in the context of the Old Testament. The Old Testament is all God who is silently working in the background to help, protect and advance humanity, though humanity has rejected Him. Yet, God strives night and day. The New Testament reveals this Old Testament love of the Father in and through Jesus His Son.

Humanity had no sense of right and wrong before the handing of the Ten Commandments. But with the Commandments came a distinction between good and evil. Likewise, Jesus proclaims the eternal Truth of what is acceptable with the Father, and How and Where and When. So if we have to understand the true essence of following Jesus, we have to go to the Bible and get acquainted with it, and then take it to the One whose word it is. That is when Jesus and His word become a living reference to how to live our lives. He shines His light in every action of our lives, revealing the truth of our desires and actions, and thereby perfecting us.

The Bible is a great gift for humanity by God. It serves as the assurance for us to sell everything we have, to buy the Pearl of Great Price – Jesus.

Bible Verse For Today
