Even as Christmas Time ends, we get into Ordinary Time before Lent. And in this time we will visit many important aspects of the Redeemer. We begin with a humbling action of Jesus, His Baptism at the hands of John the Baptist.
The First Reading starts with telling us the Suffering Servant prophecy of Isaiah. It echoes of God’s pleasure in the Suffering Servant. This Servant humble, will suffer, readily and accept everything, for the sake of God’s great love; humanity.
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
a light for the nations,
to open the eyes that are blind,
to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
from the prison those who sit in darkness.
And comes the Lord of Creation, to the lowest point on earth, humbling Himself, bowing His head, that man be saved.
Imagine the lengths that Jesus went to stress on the virtue of humility, think about it. In humility come to the Lord and adore Him.
