The Vine has symbolic understanding in the Bible. It was Noah who first cultivated it, and paid the prize for it. It stands for Jerusalem and its Spiritual/Covenantal Relationship with God. And In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus says, ‘I am the true Vine – my Father is the Vine Dresses/Grower/Owner. You can belong to God, only through the Covenant/Vine. If you reject it, uproot/disconnect yourself from the Vine, there is no life in you. True how can a branch sustain itself, unless it is connected to the tree.

So also we need to

  • sit and cross or t’s and dot our i’s and clearly thing what is it we want in life,
  • on what terms
  • and how.

After this see what God offer’s us, on what terms and how. Evaluate both and decide and make our choices. This is like being back in the Garden of Eden, but we ourselves our the central characters. Our choices will determine how our life will fashion, with God or without God. Whether we will choose to remain connected to the Vine and grow in all aspects, in peace and joy or like Adam suffer the consequence of our choice, till one day we fall in a pit of our own making, and then like the prodigal son, seek to make our way back home…

Bible Verse For Today

Remain in me as I remain in you, says the Lord. Whoever remains in me will bear much fruit.
