For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, not to condemn the world but to save it… these are iconic Gospel verses. God loves the world just as it is, God loves this broken world with all the broken people in it but he doesn’t want to condemn the broken world to ruin. God wants to repair the brokenness through love. The promise of God to give us a symbol of His love was given through Jesus, His only begotten Son who is our Saviour.
Throughout the Old Testament, God never gave up on his broken people. He constantly sent them messengers, the prophets and sometimes showed his love for them through the words of foreign kings like Cyrus of Persia. Unfortunately, it were His broken people that gave up on God. They preferred to live in their brokenness rather than accept the goodness of God.
Today, we are reminded about God’s unconditional love that he bestowed upon us as grace through Jesus. Do we accept his love? Do we feel the need to wash clean and stand before him or do we want to surrender our brokenness to him? He knows best the plans he has for you. You just need to stand before him in your brokenness rather than running away…
