The feast of Pentecost. In the Old Testament it was celebrated in honour of the 10 Commandments been given to the people of Israel to live differently than all other nations. In the New Testament Pentecost, Jesus sends us the Holy Spirit, the helper, counselor and guide to transform our hearts towards a loving relationship with God rather than the law. Thus, we can live our faith in the Spirit.
The Spirit is the energy of life within us and all around us; in the people we love, the people in our community and all of Creation. God is literally, alive among us in silent and extraordinary ways. We can recognize the Spirit working in our lives and in our world through an open cooperative heart.
The Holy Spirit is alive and active when…
Love is unconditionally given by a mother even if the child doesn’t reciprocate, it is hope that lives within a persons spirit that has experience suffering, it is a peaceful heart when situations around us are chaotic, it’s the Spirit of truth and courage when we are challenged for being children of God, it’s the Spirit that reveals the heart of God to us through scripture and it is the Spirit that makes God real in the Sacraments of the Church.
Let us therefore, strive to live more deeply in union and grow in love with God through the Holy Spirit. Amen
