Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Trinity. Most of us struggle with this idea of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit but yet One God. It’s a mystery that the limited human mind cannot understand. However, the more important question is do we know the heart of God?
For many of us, God is a judge who counts every good and evil action we have done. For others He may be a Father who should listen to and grant every demand that we His children make. And yet for some, God may be a King who demands us to work for Him as slaves. Most of us in our hearts believe that God is distant from our world and our problems because He is glorious in heaven, but are these the true images of God?
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one bound in love. Each of them having a role to love you personally.  God the Father, created you, uniquely like no other on the face of the earth. He knows every detail about you, He loves you so much that it pains Him to see you walk away from Him towards brokenness and self destruction. Therefore, God the Son comes to your rescue. Jesus knows all that you struggle with is difficult and burdensome. So He asks you to surrender all that brokenness and hardness of your heart to him because He has already fought and won your battle for you. Yes, you have won the battle already – all you have to do is believe that Jesus has accomplished it and you will indeed be free. The Gospel is that simple, anyone who believes in Jesus will be free.
However, the problem is our mind and heart connection.  We intellectually know that Jesus has redeemed us but fail to practically live it because our faith is challenged by the mind. But faith is an exercise of trust, it is letting go of self control and relying on God – it is surrender. Faith is a gift, given by the Holy Spirit who makes God alive and active in our every day lives in simple and extraordinary ways. But we receive this gift of faith, counsel, peace, love, patience,  wisdom, fortitude,  self-control, generosity, humility and more only when we are ready to let go of what we have… let go of ourselves to allow God to fill us in Spirit, to live in the Spirit.
So are we ready to know the heart of God?
