The Bible: The Power of Rebirth

The Son and the Children of God

Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God The Octave Day of Christmas
Reading 1
Numbers 6:22-27
Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8
Reading 2
Galatians 4:4-7
Alleluia
Hebrews 1:1-2
Gospel
Luke 2:16-21
'Communicantes' • Creed • Eucharistic Prayer I • Gloria • Mass of the Solemnity • Nat

The First Reading pronounces the Priestly Blessing, that was said over the people of Israel;

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Now the Lord at the beginning of this New Year, pronounces the same blessing on each and everyone.

You are His beloved and He invites you to come to him and receive Peace, Joy and Hope.

And this Peace, Joy and Hope is represented in the form of a Baby this Season – Jesus!

Jesus does not ask you to repent, nor does He wants to force you to believe. What He does is invite everyone, some through angels, others through world of mouth, and others through wise men. How each wants to respond is the benefit He will receive accordingly. Urge you to be simple in your faith; like the Shepherds, who heard and immediately went to see for themselves. And in seeing they believed and rejoiced in the Saviour of the World.

The invitation is to you too, ‘Come Let us Adore Him,’ believe and then change your lives.

Like Samuel, we will all feel the nudge, and be confused, who is it that is calling us…, don’t loose heart, when you realise it can only be Jesus calling you, say the words – ‘Speak Lord I your child am listening.’

Bible Verse For Today
