Samuel, Samuel… the Lord called out to him by name. Yes, it is the Lord that seeks us out. He knows us personally and intimately. St Paul tells the Corinthians that God wants us to know him so that He can dwell in us. Our bodies our thus temples of the Holy Spirit. We are to keep away from all immorality that can desecrate the body.  Getting into a relationship with God first requires us to be free of distractions. The Lord cannot speak to us if our hearts are closed to Him. It is when we are truly silent in our inner self no matter what challenges or temptation we face in situations that God can speak to us by name. In the Gospel Andrew is invited by Jesus to know him and then make a decision to follow Him. Similarly, Jesus also invites you to Come and see His way but the choice to follow him and bring others to Him is still yours to make. The process of discipleship with Jesus is a journey.  It is not a destination.. Simon was named Peter but Simon’s Journey of discipleship was truly filled with many highs and lows. Peter was able to fulfill Jesus’ prophecy of being the shepherd of the Church despite his imperfections only because he never gave up on Jesus. He continued to depend on Jesus…
We too will never be perfect but if we continue to allow him into our hearts Jesus will guide us towards perfection.
