All Authority comes from God and it needs to be utilised in accordance with God’s will and desire. This David understood well in his lifetime. Hence he did not try to usurp Saul’s Kingship, when it was in his power to do so. He waited on God to enable it for him. But his two sons Absalom and Adonijah did not understand this, and try to work in their own authority and timeline. and both faced the consequences of this.

In the Gospel Reading, Jesus now shares his authority with the Twelves, they now has the same power/Yahweh, in them to do the things that Jesus was doing, but their time for ministry was not yet. Their time would come after Jesus’ departure, and when the Holy Spirit would empower them at Pentecost. Now they have God’s presence in them, but they ate being trained in knowledge and understanding of God and his heart and his desire.

Same is true for us, just because we understand and experience God in our lives does not mean we are sent. We need to sit and mature at Jesus’ feet. See Paul, He met God and was revealed God’s secrets on the road to Damascus. Yet he had to endure 11 plus years before he was sent to sent to give the Good News to the Gentiles.

Bible Verse For Today

The Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel.
