God made us in His image – Good. And we are called to be good like God, and be a blessing to those around. This is the inherent person we all are. Ideally, no one can object to us doing good.
“You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48
Those who questioned Jesus were not asking this question in their own righteousness, rather they were showing how they had missed the message of the Law and the Prophets – that of love, kindness, patience, mercy. They were as a collective, those who were forgiven much, but were not ready to share the same with everyone.
