Mark 12:28b-34
The background of today’s gospel is a debate on which was the greatest commandment among the myriad of Levitical laws. Jesus beautifully summarizes the ten commandments in two Love commandments i.e selfless, unconditional Love of God and Love of neighbour… and on these depend all the law and the prophets. These are more important that any burnt offerings or sacrifices. God desires our hearts, and not our many sacrifices and pious practices.
During this Lenten Season, let’s reflect on how can we show and give our love to someone in our extended family, some senior person in the parish, someone around the community where we live.
