Love Your Enemies and Avoid Judging Others

Love Your Enemies and Avoid Judging Others

Reflection on the Gospel of the Thursday In The Twenty-Third Week In Ordinary Time

Luke 6:27-38

To understand the relationship between Father and Son/Daughter and live by it is a call we need to answer, i.e. to be merciful.

The first step towards this is to do to others as you would have them do to you. This opens an opportunity to claim our inheritance, i.e to grow into being Sons/Daughters of Our Father in Heaven, i.e. to be to be recognised as children of God.

Love and forgiveness is Key. All of us at some point in our life have encountered rejection, betrayal, wounds etc. Today’s Word is a guide to be distinct, to be different. It speaks of reconciliation as a ladder which we need to be courageous to take theses steps. The first step in this ladder being to Love our enemies. Second to do good to those who hate us. Third, bless those who curse us. Fourth, to pray for those who abuse you. Eventual when we have mastered this ladder, by climbing all its steps we will be ready to give ourselves to others without seeking anything in return. We will be have very close in our relationship with God – Our Father. We will understand the depth of Our Fathers Steadfast Love and Mercy for us. We will be able to do all things in the strength of our relationship with God-Father. This reconciliation ladder will help free us from all pain, anger and hurt, negativity and abuse. We will be blessed, and we will readily offer the other cheek, readily part with coat and shirt and give to all who ask, without nothing.

Are we ready to take the first step? Are we ready to Love our enemies? Holy spirit help me to forgive and love and give.
